One abandoned project I had years ago was, basically, about a giant homeless guy who’s apparently crazy. He THINKS he’s living in a fantasy type world and fighting sorcerers and monsters.
He’s not.
He ends up saving a person who starts interacting with him. And the twist is that one of the people he fights….turns out to actually BE a monster.
Because he’s not crazy. He really is from another world, and he’s had a spell cast on him to see our world as his, one that eventually breaks.
What it turns out is happening is that our world is being invaded by a fantasy world, and he was one of the firs experiments in sending someone over.
He ends up on our side as the invasion ramps up. This would have eventually lead to our world essentially leading a counter invasion back to the invading world.
Still not a bad concept. It’s abandoned, though, because Birthright and (more recently) The Realm and the Jeff Lemire thing are all covering the same areas.
The eagle eyed among you will note that I’ve repurposed the first part of that into something else (ie my Demolition Man story I want to do).
And this is actually the first of three entirely different projects that have had the title Warborn.
